Rotary Club of Cairns Sunrise

People of Action, Making a Difference

WHO WE ARE

Driven by Purpose, Powered by Community

The Rotary Club of Cairns Sunrise brings together people who share a passion for friendship, community service and creating positive change.

What makes our club special is the way our members roll up their sleeves and get involved. We don’t just talk about making a difference-we work together to make it happen.

Each year, four signature events allow us to make our greatest impact, raising approximately $[insert annual amount] while bringing our community together.

Our Signature Events

Palm Cove Markets

The Palm Cove Markets are one of Far North Queensland’s most popular community market experiences. Held in the beautiful beachside village of Palm Cove, the markets feature local artisans, food producers, creators and small businesses.

Cairns Sunrise members help organise and operate the markets, creating a wonderful day for locals and visitors while raising valuable funds for community projects.

World's Greatest Meal

The World’s Greatest Meal is part of Rotary’s international campaign to help end polio.

Through shared meals, fellowship and fundraising, our club contributes to Rotary’s global effort to ensure that no child has to suffer from this preventable disease. Every dollar raised helps fund polio vaccinations and supports the worldwide push to eradicate polio completely.

Dine with a Digger

Dine with a Digger is a special community event that brings people together to recognise, honour and hear from Australian Defence Force veterans.

It provides an opportunity to share stories, preserve history and acknowledge the service and sacrifice of those who have served our country. The event also strengthens the connection between veterans and the wider Cairns community.

Mayor's Christmas Appeal Hamper Packing

Every Christmas, Cairns Sunrise members come together to pack hampers for the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal.

It is a busy, rewarding and hands-on day of service that helps provide food and essential items to local individuals and families experiencing hardship. By working alongside other volunteers and community organisations, we help bring some extra hope and happiness to people at Christmas.

OUR COMMUNITY IMPACT

Where the Money Goes

The funds raised through our events support a wide range of Rotary and community initiatives.

Our club contributes to important Rotary programs across Australia and internationally, while maintaining a strong focus on helping people and organisations in the Cairns region.

Support may include:

Local charities and not-for-profit organisations

Individuals and families experiencing hardship

Youth, education and leadership programs

Health and wellbeing initiatives

Community projects and essential services

Disaster relief and emergency assistance

Rotary's international humanitarian programs

The worldwide campaign to eradicate polio

Every event, every volunteer hour and every dollar raised helps create a stronger community.

It is about friendship, fellowship and bringing together people from different professions, backgrounds and stages of life. Our members use their time, skills, experience and connections to solve problems and support worthwhile causes.
